FSX CatBlaster™ 2H

Stage 3 – Wet Cleaner

The FSX CatBlaster 2H is a Stage 3 wet cleaning machine for cleaning DPFs and DOCs with curved or angled inlet and outlet pipes. It is the second step of the FSX Light Duty DPF Cleaning System. The FSX CatBlaster 2H is not an independent machine and cannot be used as a stand-alone cleaning machine, It uses pressurized water to clean any remaining soot and ash from the filter left behind after pneumatic cleaning in the FSX CatBlaster 2P.

Single Direction Cleaning

The FSX CatBaster 2H uses alternating surges of water and air to flush any remaining soot and ash out of the filter. The air and water pressure surges as the filter gets cleaner.

Visible Cleaning Process

The operator can observe the cleaning process though the upper and lower windows of the machine.

Visible cleaning allows the operator to see the success of cleaning and know when cleaning is complete.

The average cleaning time is 30 minutes including dry time. Cleaning time will vary due to ash loading, the volume of soot, and the hardening of ash.

When the water runs clear of soot and ash the cleaning is complete and the drying will commence.

Ceramic Core Protection

Flushing soot filed DPF with water will cause internal blockages that can cause damage to a DPF. Mixing soot with water created sludge blockages deep inside the cells. These blockages cause increased hydraulic pressure that can crack the ceramic core and/or push it out of the can. This is the main problem with traditional wet cleaning machines today because they all start with an aqueous flush. Using dry air in the first step of cleaning, such as with the FSX TrapBlaster 2P, keeps the ceramic core safe by removing the majority of soot. After the bulk of the soot is removed the FSX CatBlaster 2H is able to flush out any remaining material. The combined air and water pressure will automatically ramp up as the filter is cleaned to prevent damage to the ceramic core.

Fully Adjustable

The FSX CatBlaster 2H is controlled by the FSX CatBlaster 2P touchscreen and cleans filters of the same size as the FSX CatBlaster 2P.

Longer filters can be cleaned by sticking the tailpipe outside of the chamber.

The FSX CatBlaster 2H uses the same connection adapters as the FSX CatBlaster 2P. Just move the filter from the pneumatic cleaning machine to the wet cleaning machine and start it up. Set up is about 30 seconds. The 2H controls (on the FSX CatBlaster 2P) allow the operator to adjust the processing time and the number of cleaning cycles.

Automated Process

The FSX CatBlaster 2P controls are used to operate the FSX CatBlaster 2H. The process is fully automated and leaves the operator free to talk away and perform other tasks.

The machine will work like a robot in your shop.

High Throughput

The average cleaning time is about an hour, from the start of the FSX CatBlaster 2P cleaning process to the time when the filter is dry and ready to reinstall. Cleaning time will vary due to ash loading, the volume of soot, and the hardening of ash.

Shop throughput is typically 8 filters cleaned per 8-hour shift.

High Cleaning Efficiency

Most filters cleaned are successfully reinstalled after being cleaned using the FSX CatBlaster 2H.

Soot removal = up to 96%

Ash Removal = Up to 96%*

* Ash removal rates vary depending on how hard ash has become inside the cells. Ash hardens from high-temperatrue thermal cycles and the addition of chemicals in coolant. The highest cleaning success is achived on filters that are cleaned sooner than later.

If the filter is not 100% dry, the water in the micropores will increase backpressure until the filter is 100% dry. Filters can be dried by baking them in the FSX TrapBurner, sending them through a secondary drying cycle on the CatBlaster 2P, or reinstalling the DPF on the truck and operating the engine.

FSX is the highest-efficiency dry cleaning system in the world.

The success of cleaning and fall-out rates vary by engine and manufacture duty cycle and preventative maintenance.

FSX technology used in the FSX CatBlaster 2H has proven to not damage the filter media or the washcoats.

Safe for Operators

The machine stops if the door is opened

CE, ETL, CSA rated: Lochout/Tagout switch

Ergonomically friendly, filters load into the machine at 32″ shelf height

Dust collector is interlocked to ensure the vaccum is on when the pneumatic cleaning starts

Dust is fully contained and evacuated from the cleaning chamber (see FSX SootSucker)

Proven safe operation on installations worldwide.

Environmental Safety

Wet waste in the form of sludge contains dangerous chemicals released from the soot and ash removed from the DPF. Disposal of sludge needs to be cleared with local waste management authorities.
